Hello writer,

Thank you for writing something for me! And apologies for the late letter.

I cannot stress enough that I’m really open to anything from any of the fandoms/ships I requested (outside of my DNWs) for this exchange. I would much rather read something you’re excited to write than something that checks off some boxes from my likes list. Especially because this particular exchange feels like a great opportunity to get something out of the ordinary.

BUT if you are someone who prefers a little more guidance, feel free to continue reading.

I enjoy a wide variety of types of fic—from plotty to smutty to character studies, etc. I like experimental and non-linear styles just as much as more straightforward prose, all types of endings, and if something is listed as a / ship in my requests, I’m perfectly fine with it being explicitly so or a read between the lines or pre-relationship scenario.

Please also feel free to include epistolary bits in addition to the ones between characters/pairings requested if you are so inspired and/or it makes sense for the story you want to tell.

Here are some things I always like, but YMMV if they are suitable for this particular exchange:

  • hurt/comfort
  • characters being absolutely smitten with one another but showing it in different ways
  • being terrible with feelings
  • complicated relationship dynamics
  • pining
  • protective/self-sacrificing behavior
  • internal spiraling
  • guilt/shame/self-hatred
  • repeatedly traumatized characters finding a safe place
  • secrets very reluctantly revealed
And as a reminder, here are my overall DNWs from my signup:
  • AU (any amount of canon divergence is fine)
  • pregnancy*
  • kid fic (as in: they have kids)*
  • genderswap
  • explicit sexual content under age 15
  • terminal illness
  • pet death
*Roswell has exceptions explained below

I didn’t officially DNW these, so you can ignore them if you’d like, but generally, I’m not a big fan of:
  • focus on identity/sexuality realizations (totally fine if they happen, just prefer a fic to not be about that)
  • permanent visible non-canon injury (eg chronic pain is fine, amputation is not)
  • permanent non-canonical death of requested characters
  • omegaverse

I would also prefer to avoid 1st person POV outside of epistolary elements, but if it’s what you’re wanting to write, go for it!

If you’re planning on writing smut, you’re welcome to read more about my smut likes/dislikes here.

I don’t really have any specific ideas to offer for any of my requested fandoms, but I will tell you some things I like about each of them.

Descendants

Mal/Evie, Mal & Ben, Mal & Maleficent, Mal & Uma

This is a fandom I fell into long before seeing the canon, and I much prefer the fandom interpretation of it all, aka Darker Disney. The first book touches on all the reasons why the Isle would have been a horrendously dark place to grow up--they got Auradon's scraps for foods, the VILLAINS were raising CHILDREN that they canonically do not seem to love, etc etc. You really cannot go with an interpretation of Descendants that is too dark for me, feel free to lean into as much canon divergence as you want here, and set the story anywhere in the timeline (before/during/after Auradon Prep).
Mal and Evie are one of my actual OTPs, I love them. They started out as enemies pre-canon (per the book) but it's just very clear they'll do anything for another, and it's a bond that probably wouldn't have happened had they grown up anywhere else. But as different as they are, they know each other so well, and you cannot convince me they are not ultimately each the most important person in the other's orbit.
I also threw in the additional options because I feel like there's a lot of potential for angsty and/or humorous conversations between any of them. I absolutely do not care if the epistolary bits are focused on the relationships mentioned (including Mal/Evie) or if they're conversations between the specified characters that serve a different plot you have in mind. I am also very much open to any genre here for this exchange, you do not have to keep things serious just because I've pointed out I love angstier fic if you've got a fun idea for something silly. I will say I kind of lean away from the social media option here, just because there are so many chat fics for Descendants already, but you are certainly welcome to do it if it's what feels right to you.

Fandom-specific DNWs: consensual incest, healthy parent/child relationships for requested characters, & characters in romantic relationship (past is fine, / characters in friendship is fine), requested characters happily in endgame het relationships

Community
Annie/Britta, Troy & Annie & Abed, Annie & Abed & Britta

Full disclosure, I am not in this fandom, but I LOVED the show so much when it aired. I was excited to see it as an option because I feel like there's so much ridiculousness you could do with this. I love the friendship between Troy and Abed, and how Annie wound up falling in as part of that. I love when Britta is kind of the worst and doesn't realize it, and when Annie is a total chaos demon. I would really love anything with canon vibes here, but of course, please do whatever you prefer!

Fandom-specific DNWs: HEA endgame Jeff/Annie (I actually have absolutely no issue getting fic where they are a couple, were a couple, or one is pursuing the other, but what I'm trying to say is I don't want a J/A serious romance-focused story. The more silly you get with this one, the more J/A I'm down for you to include.)

Imposters
Maddie/Jules, Maddie & Any, Jules & Any

This is one of my all-time favorite shows, I love it so fucking much. I did the noms here, and they were really just my way of saying "make this about anyone, just please include Maddie or Jules along the way," as I have a hard time focusing on stories that have zero women lol. BUT. I adore Ezra and Richard, I love the friendship between them and Jules, and how they turned around and became so good at grifting people themselves, and I also love how all three of them got their hearts ripped out by Maddie. And I find her to be a very interesting character that I'm not sure was explored as fully as she could have been in the short time the show was on air.

I am so starved for content here, I will genuinely take ANYTHING you want to write for me here, if this is your choice of fandom. I would love anything set during the TV canon, after with any plot you want to make, before when she was still grifting them... feel free to utilize any of the characters' family, or the other people in the Doctor's employ... I just love Imposters. :) And considering the canon, please feel free to go with an unhappy or ambiguous ending if you focus on any romance/past romance. Even Maddie/Jules, I just think there's too much baggage for that to work out.

Fandom-specific DNWs: Ezra/Maddie endgame (but feel free to explore their past relationship/any complicated feelings that still exist)

Person of Interest
Root/Shaw

Oy. I love them, and their canon dynamics/banter, and how it actually shifted into something real. I have no real thoughts beyond that. If you go post-canon, feel free to keep that MCD or find a way around it, I truly have no preference. (Also just because I'm writing less about this than the others, please don't assume that I want it any less!! I love them so much.)

Roswell
Tess & any

Yes, yes, I'm one of like five people on the planet who liked Tess. I'm really interested in the idea of her growing up with no one but Nasedo, and how lonely that must have been, but clinging to the idea that she had this great destiny and great love waiting for her, only to find that everyone else built their own lives during that time without her, and she had no place in them.

I ship all the canon pairings here (and Tess/Kyle), and I'm happy for you to include them or not, although I feel like they are hard to sidestep in the context of Tess lol. I'm also not interested in like...pretending everything she did was justified just because I think she's kind of a tragic figure in a way. She's also absolutely an antagonist, and I love the complexity of that. Any narrative that explores both sides of that coin would be of so much interest to me, regardless of whether Tess ends up with self-awareness about her wrongdoings, or whether any other characters come to understand her better or not.

Fandom-specific DNWs: outright Tess bashing (from the narrative itself) without attempts to explore things from her POV

DNW exceptions: making an exception for my pregnancy/kid fic DNW if you want to explore/acknowledge Tess’s canonical pregnancy and child, but I would prefer there not to be a heavy focus on actually being pregnant, giving birth, or the kid itself. In other words, it's cool if that all is present to serve a bigger story, but I would rather not have a story about that, if that makes sense.

folklore (Taylor Swift album)
August's Narrator/Betty

Okay I have absolutely no further thoughts about this, go nuts!

Music RPF
Dianna Agron/Taylor Swift, Karlie Kloss/Taylor Swift

I've never requested RPF before and I don't normally read it, but I am fully captivated by all the Swiftgron/Kaylor theories. Swiftgron moreso tbh, as it just sounds like pure chaos. I'm interested in however you would want to explore either of these, as long as it's not a thinly veiled "the people who actually buy into Gaylor theories are lunatics" type of fic, 'cause that's shitty. But other than that, feel free to play with any dynamics you want, change the universe here entirely, set it whenever, etc.

But if you bring Travis Kelce into it, I would prefer it at least be alluded to it being PR rather than somehow the greatest love story anyone has ever heard of (despite us knowing next to nothing about them lol). If you bring in any other male love interests for Taylor, the same request does not apply.
