Dear Yuletide Writer,

Happy holidays and thanks for signing up!

A little bit about me:I am an avid reader of everything from gen fic to ship fic to found family fic to smut. I love explorations of dark themes, I love girls being awkward and cute together, I love raunchy nonsense, I love angst. Nothing you write can offend me unless it’s like, homophobic or racist. If you’re new to fan fic writing or ESL or anything else that makes you a little nervous about doing this challenge, just know I’m cheering you on and going to appreciate whatever you write for me!

Things I love:

  • hurt/comfort: fuck my faves up, I’m here for it
  • angst
  • queering the canon (I’m not super big on trans-ing the canon, but if that’s important to you it’s totally fine; I would just ask that the characters identify as their canon genders)
  • trauma exploration
  • characters getting to be soft when they aren’t in canon/having to put on a show and be tough when they aren’t in canon

Things I don’t really like:

  • A/B/O
  • AUs (canon divergence is totally great, I’m just not into full-fledged setting/premise changes unless it’s set before or after canon and still makes sense—basically it’s important to me that the characters are still the characters)
  • body modification
  • character x reader
  • coming out fics (perfectly fine if it happens, especially in the context of realizing feelings or confessing a crush, but I don’t love it when “I have to figure out how to tell XYZ characters I’m not romantically interested in that I’m LGBTQ” is the plot)
  • de-aging
  • genderswapping
  • major character death (unless it’s canon or temporary)
  • major illness (X gets cancer/here’s how they cope, etc)
  • oviposition
  • poetry (I mean, I do, but not as fan fic lol)
  • pregnancy/characters having non-canon kids
  • song fics
  • watersports/scat

Other notes:

  • G to E rating is all good
  • third person POV, please
  • past and present tense are both great

Barely Lethal

I enjoy the relationship between Megan and Liz a lot, in whatever shape that takes (ship, friendship, reluctant cohabitation). I think having this girl running off to a normal life and getting stuck with the antisocial weirdo and not really knowing how to incorporate that into what she’s researched because she expected to follow the plot of the main character is a fun dynamic. Conversely, Liz getting stuck with a hot mess who knows nothing about the reality of being a teenager and wants to do all the things she hates is also fun.

Admittedly I like Liz’s character more than Megan’s, but I’m perfectly fine with a focus on Megan if you prefer. I would love something that brings Megan’s spy world crashing down on Liz (and her family, if you want), or that explores either the ramifications of Megan’s upbringing on her current world, how it puts her in a unique position to see/understand/help with something, or how it does the opposite and makes her even more clueless and causes some sort of drama. Also happy with fluff or smut here, but it would be cool if there was at least a bit of the angst intrinsic to the setting and dynamics of canon.

Charlie’s Angels

Elena is my fave and I feel like she doesn’t get as much fic attention as the others, which is why I picked her, but I love all three Angels (and Bosley). I’m good with no pairings here, or any combo of pairings (including OT3), but if you bring Bosley in I would ask that she not be shipped with one or more of the Angels, please. (Not a judgment zone, just personal taste!)

If you’re really itching to do smut or fluff here, I’d rather you do something you’re passionate about, but my personal preference would definitely be something that takes into account the spy games of it all. I don't expect intricate plotting, but I love little one-shots exploring how they deal with looking out for one another on missions. My fave Charlie’s Angels stories are probably the rarities that have Elena in her early days joining the team undergoing some kind of whump + hurt/comfort as a result, but I also fully understand that’s not everybody’s thing.

Imposters

Really I love everything about this show and just want more fic for it. The only thing I don’t really want is something that dives into a HEA with Ezra/Maddie, because I feel like that’s what’s already available and I’m more interested in the dynamics actually presented in the show. I’m not super keen on fluff for this one, but if fluff is your jam, I would prefer it be centered around the Bumblers (fine if Maddie joins in a vaguely uncomfortable way) rather than relationship-focused. Although I would also be good with a look back on Maddie and Jules being “happy” together, preferably with notes of angst since we know how it turned out.

Jules. I love her messy self-destructive nonsense, and her shitty relationship with her sister, and I really love the little family she and the other Bumblers have created for themselves. The scene where she’s helping Maddie with the wedding dress is just ugh, one of my favorites. The pining and the loathing and the self-loathing, as they all experience towards this woman who conned them. If you go with Jules, I’d be equally happy with a focus on any of these things.

Maddy. I feel like we didn’t get around to enough exploration about her side of all of these experiences in the show. I’m more interested in the times when the job was bad for her (like with the first guy in season one, or when she has to go on the run), but also think any moments she has regrets about what she’s doing to others would make for an interesting fic.

Overall, I love the idea of character studies, post-canon exploration, these dummies getting themselves into dangerous situations, reflecting on relationships, hate sex, angst, reluctant/awkward hurt/comfort—all in no particular order.

Kevin Can F**k Himself

I’m only censoring the title because that’s how it’s usually stylized 😬

Here, I enjoy Allison and Patty’s friendship. I don’t personally ship them, but I’m not at all turned off by having them get together, or hinting that they could get together. I do feel the show hints that it’s entirely possible it will happen, and I love the canon portrayal of them, so feel free to interpret in whatever way makes you happy. Although I would prefer not to have something that’s purely smut fic or romance fluff here.

I admittedly like the dark aspects of this show. I think the fics I’ve liked the most have been ones that delve more into the misery of Kevin and Allison’s relationship, or Patty realizing that it’s not just Allison being histrionic and overreacting to things, or how Neil and his loyalty to Kevin factors into it all. That said, I also fully realize Allison can suck and be a bad friend and a bad person and there are complicated factors at play there. I feel like angst is the keyword for what I’d appreciate most from a KCFH fic, but ultimately anything sticking to the tone of the show (doesn’t have to stay fully canon, just tone + characterization of Allison and Patty) will be good with me. Character studies, canon divergence, exploring a moment on the show in a deeper way, creating new scenarios pre-finale, adjusting to life post-finale, etc. All good.

Also, here’s a link to my ao3. I’m doing a lot of my whumptober/kinktober in November (whoops), so 1) I’ll be posting new stuff throughout the month if that helps you get a better idea of what I like, but 2) these will obviously heavily skew towards those genres, but that doesn’t mean they’re the only things I like. This is a new account, so I’ll also be transferring my bookmarks over from an old one soon and those will be available for perusing.

If I have fic up for any of these fandoms by the time you read this, and my headcanons don’t match your headcanons, that’s perfectly fine! I can write fic for myself all day every day, I love to see what other people come up with. At the end of the day, I’d rather get a fic the writer was excited to write and feels good about than something that arbitrarily ticks off things on my list, so please don't force yourself to do something you don't enjoy.

And thank you for whatever you come up with!
